Terms of Use

1. Eligibility

The Service is about wine and is intended for adults who are of legal drinking age in their location. By using it you confirm you meet that requirement.

2. Your account

Access is currently invite-only. You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure. Let us know promptly of any unauthorised use.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of the notes, photos, and other content you create. You grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display that content solely to operate the Service for you and the tastings you take part in (including, for AI features you choose to use, sending the relevant content to our processing providers). You’re responsible for the content you upload and confirm you have the right to share it.

4. Acceptable use

Don’t use the Service unlawfully, don’t upload content that infringes others’ rights or is abusive, and don’t attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or other users’ data. These limits do not apply to third-party map data, which you may use as its own licence allows (section 6).

5. Catalogue & accuracy

The wine catalogue and any AI-generated or reference information are provided for convenience and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Tasting notes reflect personal opinion. Nothing in the Service is professional, medical, or health advice.

6. Map data from third parties

The Wine Atlas draws its boundaries from data published by others. Each outline’s information card names its source, its licence where one applies, and what we changed. That data stays under its own terms:

• Nothing in these terms (including section 4), and no other licence that applies to the app, limits what the data’s own licence lets you do with that data. For third-party data the source’s licence governs, and we add no further conditions.
• EuroGeographics (EuroRegionalMap, used for Italian wine zones), under the EuroGeographics Open Data Licence: “This dataset includes Intellectual Property from European National Mapping and Cadastral Authorities and is licensed on behalf of these by EuroGeographics. Original dataset is available for free at https://www.mapsforeurope.org. Terms of the licence available at https://www.mapsforeurope.org/licence. All attribution statements can be found at https://www.mapsforeurope.org/attributions.” © EuroGeographics 2026; Italy © Istituto Geografico Militare (IGM). If you pass this data on, you must include the same acknowledgement and require anyone you pass it to to do the same, without adding other conditions or measures that restrict the rights the licence grants.
• Other sources are credited on each card under their own licences, for example Licence Ouverte (INAO, IGN, Etalab), CC BY 4.0 (ISTAT, Agenzia delle Entrate, Regione Piemonte, Regione Toscana), Datenlizenz Deutschland – Namensnennung 2.0 (BKG, Landwirtschaftskammer Rheinland-Pfalz; Sächsisches Landesamt für Umwelt, Landwirtschaft und Geologie), CC BY 4.0 (Stats NZ, LINZ, Lechner Tudásközpont) and public-domain or CC0 data (Natural Earth, Wikidata, Provincia autonoma di Bolzano). Credit them as their licences require.
• Some outlines are taken from published maps and data layers for which we found no reuse licence: the Wine of Origin GIS (Vinpro / SAWIS), the PDO layer of Georgia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the BC Wine Authority’s GI maps, boundary files in New Zealand’s geographical indications register (IPONZ, supplied by applicants), the ATM Mendoza cadastre, Embrapa GeoInfo, the VINGIS specification maps (Lechner Tudásközpont), the Regierung von Unterfranken’s wine-area map, the LGRB Baden-Württemberg Weinbauatlas and the public MGA map of the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani. Their publishers keep all their rights in them. We credit each on the outline’s card; we do not grant you any licence to that data, and showing it does not mean the publisher has approved or endorses the Service. A publisher who wants an outline credited differently or removed can contact us (section 12).
• Boundaries are shown for information and some are approximate; the legal texts prevail. Showing a source does not mean its publisher endorses the Service.

7. Drink responsibly

The Service does not sell alcohol. It’s a journal and social tool. Please enjoy wine responsibly and in line with the laws where you are.

8. Availability & changes

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend or discontinue the Service. During beta, expect occasional bugs and changes.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (Account → Delete account). We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached or to protect the Service or its users.

10. Disclaimers & liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Apple App Store

If you use our iOS app, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them. Apple is not responsible for the app or its support. Apple’s licence covers the app itself; third-party map data in it remains under its own licence (section 6).
