Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 August 2026

Drinking.Wine (“we”, “us”) is a personal wine-tasting journal and group-tasting app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: support@drinking.wine.

1. Information we collect

  • Account: your email address (for sign-in), an optional password, and a display name and avatar image if you add them.
  • Content you create: tasting notes (including structured WSET attributes and free text), scores, the wines and pours you record, blind-tasting guesses, quick notes, and any photos you upload of wine labels or aromas.
  • Technical data: the minimum needed to operate the service (e.g. authentication tokens and basic request logs from our infrastructure providers).

We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell your personal information.

2. How we use it

To provide the app: store and sync your notes across your devices, run group tastings you join or host, and power features you choose to use (such as scanning a label or extracting structured attributes from review text). We use it to operate, secure, and improve the service — not for advertising.

3. Service providers & AI features

We share data with providers only as needed to run the app:

  • Hosting & database (Supabase): stores your account, content, and uploaded images on our behalf.
  • AI providers (OpenAI and Anthropic): when you use an AI feature, only the relevant content is sent to be processed and returned — for example a label photo you scan, or review text you ask us to structure, or a request to generate an aroma illustration. These providers process that content to return a result; we do not use them for advertising.

Optional AI features run only when you trigger them. If you don’t use them, no content is sent to an AI provider.

4. Sharing within group tastings

When you join or host a tasting, your notes, scores, and guesses for that tasting are visible to the other members of that tasting, according to its settings (for example, blind tastings hide others’ notes until the reveal). If you create a shareable link to a note, anyone with the link can view that note until you revoke it.

5. Retention & deleting your account

We keep your data until you delete it. You can delete individual notes at any time. You can delete your entire account from Account → Delete account (in the app) or by emailing us. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, tasting notes, pours, guesses, quick notes, and uploaded photos. Tastings you hosted with other people remain for those guests, but without your identity attached. Deletion cannot be undone.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted to your own account, and group data is limited to the members of each tasting. No online service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Age

Drinking.Wine is about wine and is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their location. It is not directed to children.

8. Your choices & rights

You can access and edit your content in the app, export or delete individual notes, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, or erasure); to exercise them, email support@drinking.wine.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; we’ll change the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
